AEK Larnaca made the perfect start to life in their new stadium after thrashing Aris Limassol 4-0 to maintain their 100% record and first place in the league.

Imanol Idiakez’s side – who made their bow in their brand new AEK Arena Stadium in front of over 6,000 fans – had gone into the game with a 100% winning record and they disappoint on a triumphant night in Larnaca amidst a party atmosphere.

Spanish midfielder Jorge Larena opened the scoring with a blistering strike from distance that beat Aris keeper Gott to become the first player to score in the new ground on 10 minutes. Andre Alves added the second two minutes later from an acute angle and the Brazilian forward effectively ended the contest with his side’s third just before halftime.

Joan Tomas put the cherry on the cake late on after beating Gott with a deflected strike from inside the area.

AEK will next take on AEZ at the Paphiakos Stadium next weekend.
