The first annual Haringey Community Expo event will be held on Friday, 25 November 2016 from 11.00am to 4.00pm at Tottenham Town Hall. This high profile occasion will provide a unique platform to showcase and celebrate the work of Haringey’s huge diversity of voluntary and community groups and their impact on the lives of local residents.
Featuring exhibitions, activities and performances, the Community Expo will highlight the dedication, innovation and reach into communities achieved by local volunteers, community groups and organisations. There will also be opportunities to take part in panel discussions and question key decision makers on crucial topics that affect local people, given the current climate of reducing resources.
The event will end with the Haringey Community Impact Awards, 2016. There are nine awards categories for organisations and volunteers, giving recognition to the unsung heroes who have made a difference to people’s lives in the borough. Anyone can make a nomination by visiting our website (www.bridgerenewaltrust.org.uk).
Councillor Eugene Ayisi, Haringey Cabinet member for Communities said, “Haringey is full of heroes who give up their time to volunteer every day of the year. The Community Expo will bring together people from across our borough to recognise the fantastic work that makes our diverse communities so strong and united.”
The Community Expo is being organised by the Bridge Renewal Trust, in partnership with Haringey Council. All Haringey residents, members of the voluntary and community sector and partners are warmly invited.
Chair of The Bridge Renewal Trust, Rachel Hughes, said, “We’re looking forward to the first ever Haringey Community Expo. This will be a fantastic opportunity to highlight the outstanding work and achievements of local voluntary and community organisations, and to acknowledge the amazing contribution made by these organisations and volunteers in improving the quality of life for people living in Haringey.”
