Detectives investigating the murder of a man in Wood Green in August have identified the victim.

 

Formal identification has now taken place and the deceased is Grzegorz Stanislaw Pietrycki, 25 of Wood Green.

 

Police were called at around 04:45hrs on Tuesday, 23 August, to reports of man found injured in the street in Glendale Avenue, N22.

 

Officers and the London Ambulance Service attended and Mr Pietrycki was found seriously injured. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

 

Next of kin have been informed. Detectives from the Homicide and Major Crime Command are investigating.

 

A post-mortem examination on Wednesday, 24 August, gave cause of death as stab wound to the neck. Mr Pietrycki had been stabbed and slashed a number of times.

 

Detective Chief Inspector Andy Chalmers, who is leading the investigation, said:

 

“I am appealing for anyone in the area of Maryland Road or Glendale Avenue who saw or heard anything suspicious in the early hours of this morning, particularly between 04:00hrs and 05:00hrs.

 

“At this early stage we believe that Mr Pietrycki was attacked inside an address in nearby Maryland Road but managed to escape outside, and attempt to get away, ending up in Glendale Avenue.

 

“We are keeping an open mind regarding the possible motivation behind this murder, and I am keen to hear from anyone who may be able to help.”

On 23 August, a 19-year-old man [A] was arrested on suspicion of murder and taken into custody at a north London police station. He was later released on bail before being released with no further action.

 

On 24 August, a 29-year-old man [B] was arrested in the area of Maryland Road, on suspicion of murder, and was taken into custody at a north London police station. He has been re-bailed until early October pending further enquiries.
