The Barclays Premier League trophy on Monday (23 May) visited St Andrew the Apostle School as part of a UK tour to encourage the next generation of sports fans.

Excited students were delighted with the opportunity to see the trophy close-up and have their photograph taken with one of the icons of English football.  Representatives from the Barclays Premier League were on hand to answer questions and explain the history of the cup.

St Andrew’s was nominated for the visit by parent, Mr Michael Pieri, who won a competition held by Barclays.

Deputy Headteacher, Mr Mike Michael, said, “We always encourage our students to enjoy sport and seeing the Barclays Premier League trophy in our school was not only an amazing experience; it demonstrated to them the values of working hard, doing one’s best, fair play and teamwork. For the really keen football fans, it was the next best thing to actually winning the trophy!”
