Officers from the Trident and Area Crime Command seized 10 revolvers during a pre-planned operation on Thursday, 28 April. 

Two men, aged 21 and 22 years, were arrested on suspicion of possessing firearms with intent to endanger life and were taken to a south London police station where they remain in custody.

At approximately 21:20hrs, officers from Trident, with support from armed officers (SCO19) intercepted a minicab on the A1 Barnet bypass. On searching the boot of the vehicle, a large bag was found wrapped in a jacket. The bag contained nine revolvers of various calibres and inside the jacket was a six inch sheath knife. A quantity of cash and drugs was also recovered.

Officers later executed a warrant at an address associated with one of the men who had been arrested. A further revolver and in excess of 100 rounds of various calibre ammunition, along with Class A drugs was also found.

Investigations are ongoing.
