Τhe most common female names in Cyprus are Maria, Eleni, Androula, Georgia, Panayiota, Anna and Christina and the most common male names are Andreas, Yiorgos, Kostas, Christos, Nicholas, Michalis and Panagiotis.

This was announced on Wednesday by the Statistical Service of Cyprus on the basis of a list showing the frequency of names in Cyprus` population, as recorded in the Population Census 2011.

In order of frequency the name Maria is first and is recorded 39.883 times followed by  Andreas recorded 36.682, Eleni 29. 393 and Yiorgos 26.284 times.
