A British woman, who was recently rescued after going missing for four days in Omodos, has died after reportedly failing to recover from her ordeal.

British tourist Pauline Pidcock died at Limassol General Hospital at 5.30am Monday the 25th of May. An autopsy will be carried out to determine her cause of death.

Her death comes as a tragic end to a six-day ordeal for the woman and her family.

The 64-year-old was reported missing by her husband on Wednesday after disappearing during an excursion to Omodos village in Limassol. A search party which included members of the Fire Services, Game Services and Civil Defence had been looking for the British tourist ever since before Pidcock was finally spotted on Saturday.

Hopes were high when the grandmother was found on a cliff between Potamiou and Omodos.

Rescuers said the woman was ‘alive and conscious’ adding that she was being taken to Limassol General Hospital. At the time, her stay in hospital was described as a precautionary measure.

Pidcock had been staying at a Paphos hotel and on Wednesday morning took the bus to the Limassol district village of Omodos with her husband. She chose not to join the rest of the group on an excursion in the area and instead remained near the tour bus.

When her husband and the rest of the group returned, they could not find Pidcock and immediately informed the police.

It is reportedly not the first time that the 64-year-old woman, who suffered from epilepsy and needed daily medication, had disappeared.
