Two teenagers were arrested during the early hours of Wednesday after a group of teenagers attacked police and firemen with firecrackers.
According to the police, officers at around 12.40am attempted to dismantle a bonfire in the Ayios Yiannis area but were stopped in their tracks when a group of teenage boys began pelting them with firecrackers.
Backup was called and the officers managed to apprehend two 17-year-olds before the rest of the gang dispersed. One of the teens was charged with possession of fire crackers and assault while the other was charged with driving without licence or insurance. They were both released to appear in court at a later date.
