Cypriot Alpine Skier Alexandra Taylor was today forced to pull out of the 2014 Sochi Winter Olympics after hurting her back in a fall during training.
The English School teenager was set to take part in today’s Women’s Giant Slalom event. According to a Cyprus Olympic Committee (COC) announcement, the English School teenager fell and hurt her back with doctors saying that she will need to rest for three months.
Meanwhile, Cypriot skier Constantinos Papamichael will be racing in the Men’s Slalom tomorrow in what will be the island’s final participation at the games. Limassol-born Papamichael, who is currently serving his National Guard military service, secured 64th place in midweek in the Giant Slalom event. The event gets underway at 2.45pm.
