The rocket-nuclear-powered cruiser ‘Peter the Great’, one of the most powerful Russian naval ships is in Cyprus for refueling at the port of Limassol and is preparing to sail the Aegean with other ships to join a joint exercise with the Greek Navy, as CNA reports.

Observers say the presence of the Russian navy is a clear message of support to Cyprus and Greece from Moscow. The Ministry of Defence reported that when supplies to the ship are completed and the crew rested, the vessel will hold joint exercises with ships of the Greek fleet in the region near the Cypriot EEZ. The ‘Peter the Great’ is 252 meters long and has a width of 28.5 meters, and weighs 28,000 tons. (ANSAmed).
